The weather conditions in the Faroe Islands are not very good this afternoon, to say the least.
The average wind speed is around 20-25 m/s, and it is difficult to even go outside (hence, the balcony picture above).
It will be a little less windy later this evening, but it will still be considered very bad weather, and the weather conditions could put a damper on the fireworks and the outdoor celebrations at midnight.
Both Smyril, the ferry between Tórshavn and Tvøroyri, and Teistin, the ferry between Streymoy and Sandoy, moved their departures this afternoon forward a couple of hours.
And due to bad weather all busses (except the one which drove from Teistin) stopped driving at 11 a.m. today.
Tomorrow, it will be much less windy, 5-10 m/s, but on the other hand, it will also be much colder than it is today, around 0 degrees Celsius.
