On Sunday the Faroe Islands Red Cross and public broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya organized a charity concert in Hoyvík to raise money for the Red Cross humanitarian work in Ukraine.
Performers included Lena Anderssen, Signar í Homrun, and Guðrið Hansdóttir.
The final count after the concert amounted to 8.344 million DKK (1,12M EUR), donated by more than 400 businesses, organizations, municipalities, school classes and others.
The largest single contribution — of 800,000 DKK (107,600 EUR) — came from shipping company Kinnfelli, based in Miðvágur.
In an interview with KvF, Hjarnar Krogh Dalsgaard, one of the owners of Kinnfelli, said that the company had done very well in the past couple of years, and that they wanted to donate a percentage of the profit to charity.
In addition to the 8.3 million raised on Sunday, a number of smaller charity concerts have taken place in churches around the country to raise money for victims of war in Ukraine.
