Music festival season to kick off with western-themed concerts

Late spring is here, the weather is getting warmer, and the festival season packed with live concerts is fast approaching. 

First up in the long line of exciting music festivals scheduled for this summer is Sørvágur’s Country and Blues Festival, on June 11th to 13th. Among artists scheduled to perform in Sørvágur is Ireland’s Robert Mizzell, American singer Ray Scott, plus Faroese artists and bands like Blátt Gras, Ólavur á Váli Olsen, Kristel Lisberg and Marianna Winter.

Next up is Voxbotn, which will take place in Tórshavn on June 27th, with acts like Safri Duo from Denmark, Faroese band Páll Finnur Páll, Danish group Aphaca, and Faroese duo Byrta among this year’s acts.

The G! Festival, in Syðrugøta on July 16th to18th, offers performances from American singer-songwriter Oliver Tree, Jerub from the UK, Printz Board & The Butter Funk Family from the US, Faroese bands and artists Frændur, Clickhaze, Joe & The Shitboys, Guðrið Hansdóttir, Elinborg, Eivør, and Dan Olsen.

Tórsfest, slated for July 24th in Tórshavn, a few days before national holiday Ólavsøka, features Danish artists Christopher and Benjamin Hav, and Faroese artists and bands such as Marius Ziska, and RSP.

Klaksvík’s Summar Festival, which takes place Augsut 6th to 8th, has a line-up that includes Danish singer Rasmus Seebach, German group Italobrothers, and Faroese artists and bands such as Herborg Torkilsdóttir, Sakaris, Marius DC, Grandma’s Basement, Eyðun Nolsøe, and Annika Hoydal.

The last music festival of the summer, Viðareiði’s Norð Festival, is scheduled for August 29th and features peformances from the likes of Danish rock band D-A-D, and Faroese artists Hallur Joensen, Herborg Torkilsdóttir, Eyðun, Terji & Kim, and Finnur Koba & Páll Oddur Rubeksen.
