Faroese chess grandmaster Helgi Dam Ziska has been crowned as ”European Small Nations Individual Chess Champion 2018”, reports Faroese news website VP.fo.
27-year-old Ziska won – and thus, retained – the championship convincingly with 8.5 points out of 9 points, 1.5 points ahead of grandmaster Igor Efimov from Monaco, whom he drew with on Sunday.
This year´s edition of the European Small Nations Individual Chess Championship – the 3rd Individual tournament arranged by ESNA – was held in Klaksvík, Faroe Islands.
Ziska was a big favorite to win the competition and did not fail to deliver.
