Faroese media company VP (previously Vágaportalurin) has bought 50% of Local.fo, the only English-language news website in the Faroe Islands.
The news outlets today announced that VP has successfully closed a purchase of 50% of Local.fo. What is more, the news outlets also announced that their editorial teams will be merged.
Local.fo CEO Torleif Joensen is very happy for the opportunity to work with VP, while VP CEO Gunnar Skúvadal is also very excited to start cooperation with Local.fo.
“We are very happy for the opportunity to work with a bigger news outlet,” Mr. Joensen said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Skúvadal pointed out that there is a growing international interest in the Faroe Islands and that tourism is flourishing.
“Furthermore, there are many immigrants in the Faroe Islands, who do not understand Faroese,” Skúvadal added.
The Local.fo website was originally launched in January 2018.
