The economy of the Faroe Islands is booming and nowhere else is that more visible than in the capital, Tórshavn. Businesses report major gains, and what once was a semi-dead capital has now expanded with sleek shops and restaurants revitalizing formerly run-down spaces.
The dark side is that the homelessness crisis is becoming more and more visible. Politicians have tried fixing the crisis – yet it’s not working, at least not well enough. Amid a housing shortage and a failing mental health care system, the everyday crisis has intensified.
