Much as predicted, the number of air travellers who passed through Vagar Airport during 2024, amounted to a new all-time high, at 444,000, according to news reports.
Beating the previous year’s record by about 13,000, the total number of air passengers, however, slightly missed the projection set by Vagar Airport CEO Regin I. Jakobsen.
In October, Mr. Jakobsen, told radio station FM1 that he expected a record-breaking figure of 450,000 air passengers for the year.
“Within the next couple of decades, the current figures are on a trajectory to double,” he added.
At present, five airlines offer regular flights to and from Vagar Airport—passenger airlines Atlantic Airways, Widerøe, Scandinavian Airlines, and IcelandAir, plus air freight carrier FarCargo.
