The Faroese National Airline Company, Atlantic Airways, who has been the proud sponsor of the Atlantic Airways Tórshavn Marathon for the past two years, will yet again be the head sponsor at the only Marathon in the Faroe Islands, The Atlantic Airways Tórshavn Marathon 2020.
It is the local track and field club, Bragdið, that is behind this event, which is the biggest solo athletics event in the Faroe Islands. “We have been very glad and appreciative for this cooperation with Atlantic Airways these past two years and are of course extremely happy that this will continue. It is of great importance to us that our head sponsor plays an active role in promoting running and in developing the opportunities that a Marathon brings, say for the travel industry”, says Ann Thomsen, chairwoman for Bragdið.
Between 600-700 runners participate in the Marathon, half marathon and walking half each year. And the interest of running in the Faroe Islands keeps growing.
“For us in Atlantic Airways it´s a natural thing to be sponsoring a healthy, visible and positive event, that also puts the Faroe Islands on the world map. For sure the Atlantic Airways Tórshavn Marathon has one of the most beautiful and scenic routes in the world and from a tourism point of view this sponsorship makes very good sense to us”, says Árni Olsen, sales and marketing executive at Atlantic Airways.
The Atlantic Airways Tórshavn Marathon will be held on Sunday June 7th 2020. Registration will open in September 2019.
