Summer moved on: Two top-flight games cancelled due to heavy winds

Winter in the Faroe Islands has seemingly begun.

The weather in the North Atlantic Archipelago has been pretty crap the last couple of weeks, and this afternoon the Faroese Football Association decided to cancel two top-flight games due to heavy winds.

Relegation threatened AB (Argja Bóltfelag) were supposed to take on Skála at Argir Stadium, while 07 Vestur and EB/Streymur, who are also very much so in the relegation dogfight, were due to lock horns in the village of Sørvágur.

However, Anemoi had other plans, and both games were thus cancelled.

According to Faroese news website Portal.fo, the matches will perhaps be moved to Tuesday night.

With just two games left in the Faroese Premier Division (Betri Deildin), AB are bottom of the league with 15 points, while 07 Vestur in 9th place have earned 16 points. EB/Streymur currently sit in 8th place with 20 points.

At least one team will be relegated to 1st division – and depending on the outcome of the last couple of games in this years edition‘s of the 1st division, two top-flight teams could be relegated to the second tier of Faroese football.

The excitement is on – but so is the Faroese winter, it appears.
