SAS to capitalize on Faroe demand

SAS will increase its flights from Copenhagen to the Faroe Islands next summer, offering nine weekly flights from 1 July to 11 August, writes Check-in.dk.

According to Mariam Skovfoged, SAS’ Head of Media Relations Denmark, SAS has decided to expand to nine Faroe flights per week in the upcoming summer as the Faroe Islands are in high demand.

“The Faroe Islands are an attractive destination. Many tourists from non-European countries want to experience the islands, and now they will get more opportunities to go there,” said Ms. Skovfoged, according to Check-in.dk

Meanwhile, when it comes to the winter season, SAS flights to the Faroes tend to be less than packed.

Thus, the Scandinavian airline, which began daily round-trip services to the Faroe Islands in March 2017, last summer decided to reduce frequency on the route for the winter season – from seven to five weekly winter flights.

SAS currently offers four weekly winter flights to the North Atlantic archipelago.

SAS’ 2019 summer schedule starts on 1 April, and from thereon until 30 June 2019 SAS will offer seven weekly flights from Denmark to Vágar Airport.

From 1 July to 11 August 2019, SAS will fly to the Faroes twice daily on Mondays and Thursdays.
