Yet another successful Intertwining or Sambinding event was held last Tuesday night at the Municipal Library, in downtown Tórshavn.
It was the second arrangement in 2019, and at this event, ALS – the Unemployment Office – had a presentation about rights, duties and opportunities in case of unemployment. After the presentation, the participants were given the opportunity to ask questions about their situation, about unemployment and about the employment services of ALS.
Bearing in mind that language skills are one of several crucial factors in a succesful integration, a language course in Faroese for beginners is arranged prior to the Sambinding event. The language course starts at seven o’clock and lasts for 30 minutes. The course is free of charge, and the feedback from people who have attended the course, has been very positive.
A monthly arrangement
Intertwining takes place from 19:30 to 21:30, on the last Tuesday evening of the month. The event is arranged by Faroese Red Cross with the purpose of creating an opportunity for native and new Faroese people to meet, mingle and spend a nice evening together.
Tea, coffee and some small snacks are served and the event is free of charge.
Everybody is more than welcome to participate.
The next Sambinding event is held on the 26 of March where the topic is education opportunities for foreigners. Anyone attending will be given the opportunity to ask questions and take part of an open discussion after the presentation.
The Intertwining programme for the rest of the spring 2019 is as follows:
Tuesday 26 March – Education opportunities for foreigners
Tuesday 30 April – Citizenship
Tuesday 28 May – the subject is yet to be determined.
Tuesday 18 June – a walk in downtown Tórshavn with a local English-speaking guide.
