Passenger ferry Ritan docked after incident

Passenger ferry Ritan, which connects the islands of Viðoy, Svínoy and Fugloy, was damaged when it sailed into the Hvannasund harbor on January 26th.

Strandfaraskip Landsins (SSL) writes in a press release that divers concluded that the propeller and the rudder had been slightly damaged. However, it was initially difficult to assess the full damage.

Ritan has since been docked and the damaged propeller has been sent to Denmark for repair work.

This repair work is expected to be completed approximately on February 12th, confirms SSL.

Whilst Ritan is undergoing repair work Súlan will sail on route 58 and Kavarin will sail cargo journeys.

Those who need cargo journeys can as usual contact the cargo station in Klaksvík.
