Team Faroe Islands have advanced to the main round of the IHF Women’s World Championship after beating Paraguay 36-25 today in a second consecutive win.
At halftime the Faroese were already leading 16-13, paving the way for a stronger second half, which saw our ladies even more clearly focused on scoring goals, adding 20 more to the ledger while conceding another 12 to their South American opponents.
With two victories and one loss, the Faroe Islands have come out much stronger at this iteration of the World Championship compared to last year’s bleaker adventure.
The fact that the Faroese women are now, for the first time ever, through to the main round is already celebrated by their fans.
Next, in Dortmund, they will be facing Iceland, Serbia and Germany.
