Sirið Stenberg, the minister of health, claims that an experimental scheme with medicinal cannabis is unnecessary in the Faroe Islands as patients with special needs already have excellent accessibility to medicinal cannabis.
Stenberg states that doctors in the Faroe Islands already have authorization to prescribe medicinal cannabis.
– The Health Minstry, the chief medical officer in the Faroes and the national pharmaceutical have discussed this issue and come to the conclusion that we already have authorization within the current system to provide patients with help who need medicinal cannabis, Stenberg says according to Kvf.fo.
In February the Parliament will debate a bill to call upon the Faroese government to introduce a bill that legalizes an experimental scheme with medicinal cannabis.
The proposer is Jenis av Rana, member of the conservative Centre Party.
