Faroese football club face extinction

Eysturoy-based football club Skála have launched a DKK 300.000 fundraiser to save itself from a possible extinction.

In a statement on its GoFundMe page, the club said: “If we do not get money our football club will be in big trouble and maybe so big that we will not have any football club anymore, it will be a disaster for our young people that love to play football. Thx to all that will help us.”

Skála lie sixth in the Faroese Premier Division (Betri Deildin).

The club was founded on 15 May 1965. The 2005 season was the best in the club’s history as Skála finished second and qualified for the 2006–07 UEFA Cup.
