Faroes to play Liechtenstein and Latvia in March

Faroese football team coach Lars Olsen has called up 20 players for two friendly matches later this month.

The Faroe Islands (96) will face Liechtenstein (182) on March 21 and Latvia (132) on March 25 as part of their preparations for the UEFA Nations League group stage which is to kick off during the international break in September 2018.

Both games will be played in Spain, reports KVF.fo.

The Faroe Islands have been drawn with Azerbaijan, Malta and Kosovo in Group D3 in the inaugural UEFA Nations League.

Every team will face off against the teams in their group home and away, with the winner of the group being promoted for the following season.

In Group A, the four group winners will face off at the ‘Fab Four’ tournament in summer 2019.

The group stage fixtures will take place in September, October and November 2018:

Matchday 1: Sep 6-8
Matchday 2: Sept 9-11
Matchday 3: Oct 11-13
Matchday 4: Oct 14-16
Matchday 5: Nov 15-17
Matchday 6: Nov 18-20
