Press release – Denver, USA (November, 2018) – A panel consisting of five of the world’s top travel bloggers has selected the Faroe Islands as the top emerging European travel destination for 2019. The award was published last week on the site TravelLemming.com, which focuses on emerging and off the-beaten path travel destinations around the globe.
The Faroe Islands were nominated for the award by Visit Faroe Islands, the official tourism board for the islands. Winning destinations were then selected from nominations around the world by a panel consisting of five of the top travel bloggers in the world, with a combined following on social media of over 1.75 million.
Among the 12 winners, the Faroe Islands took the top place overall, winning the “Judge’s Pick Award” after being the only nominee to be selected by every single judge.
The site is also holding a contest to select a “Readers’ Pick Award” winner. Readers can vote for their favorite destination by visiting the article.
In describing why the Faroe Islands won, the article reads: “With a population of just 50,000 people and a remote location far off the continental shore, these magical islands may be one of the last few unspoiled travel destinations in Europe. That may change soon, though, as the word is out about the Faroe Islands – the perfect playground for your senses in 2019.”
Kiersten Rich, one of the judges, is quoted as saying: “Faroe Islands are high on my list to visit because of their insane natural beauty.” Ms. Rich is the founder and owner of The Blonde Abroad, the largest solo female travel blog in the world.
She was joined on the panel by Matt Kepnes, a New York Times best-selling author and creator of the popular site NomadicMatt.com, and Derek Baron, a writer of the site WanderingEarl.com who has been traveling for 20 years straight. The panel also included Kristin Addis of the travel site BeMyTravelMuse.com, and Alyssa Ramos of MyLifeisaMovie.com. Together they sport over 1.75 million followers.
