The famous red house behind Tórsvøllur Stadium in Tórshavn will now be demolished, according to Faroese media.
The city council of Tórshavn bought the house from Daniella Olsen in 2005 for 2 million DKK but did not to demolish it as it was agreed to that the house should not be pulled down as long as Olsen was still alive.
However, Olsen passed away earlier this month at the age of 104, and the city council of Tórshavn has now deciced to demolish the house as that the last stage of the construction process of Tórsvøllur Stadium has begun.
This stage is due to be completed in 2020 and is expected to cost 118,5 million DKK.
Tórsvøllur Stadium, the national football stadium in the Faroe Islands, opened in 1999.
