Today marks the first year anniversary of Local.fo.
The Local.fo website was launched 22 January 2018, and its primary target was to give readers all the latest news from the Faroe Islands – in English.
It has been quite an eventful year, with some incredible highs as well as some tough challenges and difficult days, but overall we are happy to inform that Local.fo has been very well received by Faroe Islanders and the online community in general.
These last 30 days we have had 37.900 visitors from 124 nations, and it is perhaps safe to say that we are one of the most important gateways to the Faroe Islands.
In October 2018, Faroese media company VP (previously Vágaportalurin) bought 50% of Local.fo. At the same time the two editorial teams were also merged.
Torleif Joensen and this correspondent are the original owners of Local.fo, while VP CEO Gunnar Skúvadal is the new co-owner.
We are not entirely sure what the future holds for us – there is no fate but what we make for ourselves, right – but at the time being we love doing this – i.e. running Local.fo and writing news in English -, and our short term ambition is to grow even bigger in 2019.
We would like to thank you all for reading us in 2018/19.
