A female tourist from Germany got an unpleasant surprise yesterday when she found out that she had caught the wrong afternoon ferry from Tórshavn.

Instead of boarding Smyril Line’s Norröna from Tórshavn to Iceland, she accidentally boarded Smyril to Suðuroy, writes Faroese news webpage Portal.fo.

Luckily for the woman – and perhaps rather inconveniently for the other passengers -, the captain of Smyril decided to turn around and head back to Tórshavn so that she did not miss her trip to Iceland.

Smyril departed from Tórshavn at 4 p.m. yesterday and it did not take long – a few minutes or so – before the woman realized her mistake and contacted Smyril’s staff to make them aware of the grave situation.

Norröna departed from Tórshavn at 6 p.m. yesterday.
