Restaurant KOKS from the Faroe Islands has been awarded the prestigious “The Nordic Prize” for best restaurant in the Nordic countries, reports Faroese news webpage Dimma.fo.
This was revealed yesterday at restaurant Tree-Top in Vejle, Denmark.
This is the second time KOKS wins ”The Nordic Prize” after winning it the first time round back in 2015.
KOKS fought off tough competition from some of the very best restaurants within the region, such as Ren-aa from Stavanger, Hotel Borgholm from Öland, Babette from Vordingborg and Grön from Helsinki, writes Dimma.fo.
Visit Faroe Islands reviews KOKS as follows: ”Widely regarded as the best restaurant in the Faroe Islands, Michelin star restaurant KOKS offers the complete fine dining experience. Focusing on innovative traditional Faroese food, KOKS gives its guests the chance to taste the Faroes and its seasons through local produce.”
In 2017 KOKS was awarded a Michelin star, the first for a Faroese restaurant. It has retained its star for 2018.
