In the lead up to the International Women’s Day, Tórshavn City is celebrating women and their achievements (Femifagnaður).
Numerous female-related events have been scheduled for this week, including last night‘s debate on abortion in Perlan, downtown Tórshavn.
The organization Frítt Val (Pro Choice) organized the debate. Around 100 people showed up to listen to the debate.
Candidates from six political parties participated in the debate: Elsebeth Mercedis Gunnleygsdóttur from Fólkaflokkurin (The People‘s Party), Anna Falkenberg from Sambandsflokkurin (The Unionist Party), Kristianna Winther Poulsen from Javnaðarflokkurin (The Socialdemocratic Party), Annita á Fríðriksmørk from Tjóðveldi (The Republican Party), Ruth Vang from Framsókn (Progress) and Mia av Kák Joensen from Miðflokkurin (The Christian Centre Party).
