Faroe Islanders will once again have the opportunity to fly straight from Iceland to Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport.
Last week, Icelandic airline WOW air announced – and this news will undoubtedly delight many Israel-friendly Faroe Islanders – that it will begin flights to Tel Aviv again next summer.
WOW air has flown to Israel since September 2017, but in July the budget airline announced that flights to Tel Aviv would stop in October.
Haaretz reported at the time that “the airline wants to focus on other new destinations in North America and India” and cited other “operational, logistical and commercial considerations” for the service termination.
Now it has been confirmed that the route will be reinstated in June 2019.
The flights to Tel Aviv will be four times weekly: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays between June 11th and October 2019, writes Iceland Monitor.
The best alternative, price-wise and layover-wise, to the WOW air route – if Israel is your destination and you live in the Faroes, that is – is arguably the Norwegian Air summer route from Copenhagen to Tel Aviv.
