Atlantic CEO reveals how much it will cost to fly from New York City to the Faroe Islands

The cheapest round-trip tickets from Vágar to New York City – or the other way round – will cost around DKK 5.000 (760 USD), Atlantic Airways CEO Ms. Jóhanna á Bergi told Kringvarp Føroya yesterday.

If everything goes according to plan, the Faroese national airline will start flying from Vágar to New York City in September 2019. The trip will take around six hours.

Ms. Bergi on Sunday told Kringvarp Føroya that it is true that Atlantic Airways has filed for permission to fly to New York City.

The airline is now waiting for US aviation regulators to make their decision.

Ms. Berg stated that “the plan is to make a couple of flights to New York City next fall – around 4-6 flights all in all, one flight per week.”

Atlantic Airways intends to utilize an A320neo aircraft in a 180-seat configuration for the service.

The government of Denmark is expected to authorize similar services for a US carrier under the Open Skies Agreement.
